Palermo

A top tourist destination,Palermo ,is the biggest and trendiest neighborhood for sightseeing in Buenos Aires, and it offers tons of accommodation and activities for day and night. Bosques de Palermo:
The park and its surrounding area are the city´s hot spot. Decorated with rose gardens, groves and lakes, it is the perfect place to enjoy a tour at any time. From the park´s northeastern side, you can reach the Rio de la Plata and its beautiful waterfront promenade, Costanera Norte. Puerto Madero:

This waterfront neighborhood of Buenos Aires is the most modern area of the city. With glass skyscrapers, elegant restaurants and chic nightclubs, Puerto Madero is enjoyed by the wealthy and the trendy. It is a young neighborhood that went through the largest urbanization project in the city´s history. In 1993, the city government remodel the old docks that had been part of the port, opening the door to a new area of enjoying considered nowadays the most important tourist and business center in Buenos Aires.

Translated as "Woman´s Bridge", this contemporary urban sculpture designed by Santiago Calatrava catches your eye immediately. Ecological Reserve:
Behind the modern architectural explosion of Puerto Madero, the lively Costanera Sur, the southern waterfront promenade, hinges on the Ecological Reserve. La Boca:

A colorful and delightful town right off the old port of Buenos Aires,La Boca has been synonymous with tango and football. Adorned with multi-colored houses and taverns, the neighborhood jealously holds onto its tango tradition, football passion, and Italian roots. Today it is one of the most important cultural centers and tourist attractions of Buenos Aires city for walking tours, soccer games and tango shows.

Named after a famous tango tune composed by the renowned singer Carlos Gardel, Caminito, or little walkway, is an open air tango museum and arts market. Microcentro:

Buses, taxis, and people whiz by the narrow streets and sidewalks of this frenetic "micro centero" which vibrates until midnight everyday. Lying east of the Avenida 9 de Julio, the world´s widest avenue, Microcentro has a heavy concentration of businesses, bank headquarters, international corporate offices, and governmental institutions. On Fridays, the businessmen take off their ties as they swig pints of beer in the many Irish pubs and taverns located in the area.

Florida Street:
An elegant pedestrian street since 1913, Florida starts at Avenida de Mayo and continue less than one mile (1Km) until the beautiful Plaza San Martin in Retiro. Surrounded by shopping malls such as the Galerias Pacifico, name brand stores, leather and souvenirs stores, Florida St is an interesting place to observe Buenos Aires's fast-paced activity and to enjoy tourist shopping. Location: Florida Street begins at Santa Fe 600.

Avenida de Mayo:
This major avenue connects the Plaza de Mayo and Plaza Congreso along a 10-block pathway of European neoclassical and art nouveau structures that reflect the European influence of the city. Named after the 1810 May Revolution, the street houses historical treasures such as the Café Tortoni or the Cultural Center of Buenos Aires. Location: Avenida de Mayo, from 500 until 1400.

9 de Julio Avenue & the Obelisk:
You cannot miss the city view from Avenida 9 de Julio, the widest avenue in the world. The Obelisco stands elegantly at the junction of 9 de Julio and Corrientes. From here, you can enjoy a walk during the day or night and enjoy tourist landmarks such as the Colon Theatre, the French Embassy and other sculptures and monuments on the sidewalks. Location: Avenida 9 de Julio from 1300 to 500.

Plaza de Mayo:

Became the most important political scenario of Buenos Aires since the Argentine Independence in 1810. People with different political ideologies gather here in massive political demonstrations like those organized by Evita Peron or by the Mothers of Plaza de Mayo. The Plaza de Mayo also houses important city majors landmarks such as the Casa Rosada Presidential House, the Cabildo o Government House during the colonialismperiod; the Metropolitan Cathedral of Buenos Aires, among other magnificent buildings. Location: between Hipólito Yrigoyen 300, Rivadavia 300, Balcarce and Bolívar streets.

Recoleta:

A classy residential and commercial district replete with French-style buildings and art nouveau constructions, Recoleta is one of the most expensive and elegant neighborhoods of Buenos Aires and one of the most popular for tourists. Its central Plaza Francia is surrounded by coffee shops, restaurants and other hot tourist spots like the Del Pilar Church, the Palaise de Glace or the University of Buenos Aires Law Faculty. Cemetery of Recoleta:
More than a cemetery, this place is a museum of art that dates from the year 1800. In the Cemetery of Recoleta are lying the remains of the most influential and important personalities of the Argentine history including the populist Eva Peron. Its marble mausoleums are dedicated to entire families and their descendants and adorned with sculptures and other outrageous monuments resembling the opulence of the Argentine high class. Recoleta Cultural Center:
The building was donated to the city by the Franciscans in 1716. Since its renovation in 1980 it has been operating as a cultural center and one of the most popular venues in the city. Location: Junin Street 1930.

The Congress:

The magnificent gray stone Palacio del Congreso emanates an imposing and awe-inspiring presence in this neighborhood which the locals commonly refer to as "Congreso." It is a middle-class area with strong commercial activity that gives you a taste of the real Buenos Aires. The Plaza Congreso decorated with several monuments and sculptures, is the second most important political venue for Argentines. Many demonstrations either begin or end at the Congreso because it is connected to Plaza de Mayo via ten block of Avenida de Mayo.

Its impressive construction makes this palace one of the city´s greatest architectural master pieces. Built in the beginning of the 1900´s, el Congreso faces the Plaza Congreso which, adorned with monuments and sculptures, starts where the Avenida de Mayo ends. The Plaza Congreso has become the second most important political venue for Argentines as many demonstrations from Plaza de Mayo either begin or end there. Location: Entre Rios/ Callao Avenue and Rivadavia Avenue 1700.

Corrientes Avenue:
One of the main avenues of Buenos Aires, Avenida Corrientes intersects with Avenida 9 de Julio and the Obelisco before continuing into downtown. Corrientes holds a strong cultural relevance to the Porteños, accommodating all sorts of theater and tango houses, libraries and Italian pizzerias that entertain the city´s denizens until late night. Location: Callao Avenue 400, Intersection with Corrientes Avenue at 1700 until 800.

Belgrano:

A residential neighborhood in the north of Buenos Aires, Belgrano offers both a peaceful oasis and commercial energy. The upper middle-class enjoys living among the quiet leafy inner streets as well as shopping along the busy Avenida Cabildo lined with shops, boutiques, and corner cafes.

The central plaza in the neighborhood, Plaza Belgrano is surrounded by the Catedral Belgrano, popularly called "La Redonda" or the "the Round One" because of its circular shape; the Enrique Larreta Museum of Spanish Art; the Yrurtia House Museum; and the Sarmiento Museum. The plaza is an important meeting place for artists who open their crafts market on the weekends. Location: Juramento Street 2200.

China Town:
A colloquial misnomer granted to this unofficial neighborhood, Chinatown accommodates diverse Asian ethnicities including the first Taiwanese immigrants, followed by the Chinese, Korean and Japanese people who moved there in the middle of the 1980´s. The area has continued to preserve its Asian culture and includes plenty of grocery stores, restaurants and stores. Location: Juramento 1600 and Arribeños 2100 intersection.

Tigre:

Located just 17.5 miles (28 Km) north of Buenos Aires city, this beautiful and colorful town lies on the shore of the Parana Delta. Tigre´s various outdoor activities can vary from taking a tour through the islands of the Delta; walking around the charming town, screaming your lungs out at the Parque de la Costa amusement park, or gambling away through poker tables and slots at the Casino. To get to Tigre is very simple taking the line Mitre of Buenos Aires Railways and after 40 minutes travel between Buenos Aires northern neighborhoods.

A main fruit and vegetable port many years ago, the Puerto de Frutos is now a crafts market that draws local artists to exhibit their unique art pieces made from native resources from the area.
